Lap timing & lap counter
Slot car lap timing and club software for Bepfe tracks
SlotDash is lap counter, timing system and race control in one: the Bepfe electronics send an impulse for every pass, and SlotDash turns it into lap times, best laps, rankings and results — for practice night just as for the club race.
How the timing works
Each lane has a photocell at start/finish. When a car passes, the Bepfe impulse electronics report the impulse to SlotDash over the COM port. SlotDash counts the lap, measures the lap time and filters out false impulses with the adjustable minimum lap time.
What is measured and shown
Laps, last lap, personal best, the last five lap times and the gap — live on the dashboard, each lane in its colour. SlotDash records track and lane records and leaderboards automatically.
Race control with track power and start lights
Through the Bepfe electronics SlotDash switches track power and the start lights: start lights with random GO, automatic false-start penalty, penalties with keys 1–8, chaos mode and finish per lane.
Wooden track or Carrera track
What matters is the electronics, not the track: SlotDash works with any slot car track that has Bepfe impulse electronics connected — a club wooden track or a plastic track such as Carrera, from 2 to 8 lanes.

Software for the slot car club
- Driver database with cars and teams
- Several tracks and classes with their own records
- Six race modes, series races with club rotation or groups
- Practice with a queue when there are more drivers than lanes
- Rankings, result printing and CSV export
- Race state is saved continuously — racing continues after a crash or power cut

Questions about lap timing
What hardware do I need for lap timing?
Bepfe impulse electronics with photocells at start/finish, connected to the PC through a COM port — usually a USB-to-serial adapter. SlotDash finds the box automatically. SlotDash is built for Bepfe electronics; other timing systems are currently not supported.
Can I use SlotDash as a lap counter for a Carrera track?
Yes, if the track is fitted with Bepfe impulse electronics. Then SlotDash counts laps and measures times just as on a wooden track. Without Bepfe electronics no timing is possible, but you can still try SlotDash with the built-in simulator.
Is SlotDash suitable as club software?
Yes. Driver database, several tracks and classes, series races with rotation, rankings, result printing and a live dashboard for the projector — all local on the race PC, with no internet and no subscription. The full version is a one-time 29 CHF (introductory price until 31 December 2026).
